Ontario Soccer - Centre Circle Awards

The SOSA Board put forth four nominations for the 2018 Ontario Soccer Centre Circle Awards, two of whom are being honoured as winners.

 

John Nador John Nador, past Vice President of the SOSA Board and longtime chair of the Kingston Clippers Ambassador Cup, was nominated for the Eastern Ontario Region Meritorious Award. This award recognizes long-time contributions to the game at all levels, Provincial, District, and Club.
John Nador Savas Kekkas, past President of the SOSA Board and founder of Pegasus AC, was also nominated for the Eastern Ontario Region Meritorious Award. Savas was also an integral part of the formation of the Eastern Regional Soccer League and SOSA's participation in such.
John Nador Philip Benevides, co-founder of Futsal Kingston and Provincial Referee, was nominated for the Match Officials - High Performance Award. This award recognizes a match official that plays an important part in the Talented Pathway (OPDL/League1 Ontario). Philip has been a member of the League1 Ontario panel since July 2015 and has been involved in a number of Ontario Cup finals and most recently participated as a match official in the 2018 Futsal Canadian Championships in Kingston.
Storrington Minor SC logo Storrington Minor Soccer Club was nominated for the Club Recognition award. This award is for clubs that contribute in innovative ways to deliver the game. Storrington Minor SC has been around for 23 years and has constantly engaged Storrington and the surrounding areas, contributing to their being one of the only clubs in our district to show growth every year over the last several years. In addition to this, Storrington has a mentoring program for that match officials that is unmatched and is one of the primary reasons for their close to 100% club referee retention each year.

 

Of the four nominations, John Nador was selected for the Eastern Ontario Region Meritorious Award and Philip Benevides was selected for the Match Officials - High Performance award.

 

Both Mr. Nador and Mr. Benevides will be honoured at a reception held on June 9 in Toronto.
