In Ontario, OHIP is the primary provider of medical coverage. Ontario Soccer, in conjunction with HUB HKMB, has worked to bridge the gap where incidents are not covered by OHIP. This coverage is supplemental, but when there in an injury as a result of playing soccer, in general this supplement will cover things like ambulance transport from the pitch to hospital when required, crutches, physiotherapy after treatment, emergency dental work and death resulting from participation in an Ontario Soccer sanctioned event. All properly registered Ontario Soccer players are covered when participating in sanctioned events including practices, games, tournaments and exhibitions.
When traveling out of province, Ontario Soccer recommends that clubs and teams purchase proper travel insurance. This is not part of the default Ontario Soccer coverage.
